Game of the Week
#2 Penn State at #6 Ohio State (3:30 PM FOX)
Saquon Barkley keeps racking up style points for the Heisman Trophy and here comes his biggest test, a date with #6 Ohio State. The Buckeyes are the hottest team in the nation outscoring their last 3 opponents (all Big 10 teams) by an average of 58-9 with their own Heisman hopeful, JT Barrett. It seems like Barrett has been playing for the Buckeyes for the last 10 years and it shows with 21/1 TD to Int ratio and 5 more rushing scores on the year. However, the Nittany Lions defense has been on point all season and they have their special QB in Trace McSorley to go along with Barkley. I expect a close game that is a real toss up but will go with PSU to pull the mild upset on the road.
Prediction Penn State 27, Ohio State 26
#8 Miami at North Carolina (12:00 PM ESPN2)
Another week, another close Miami win as they pulled away from a sneaky good Syracuse team in the final minutes to pull away with a 27-19 win. Up next is a struggling UNC team that is 1-7 on the year but will look to put up a fight with the 8th ranked Hurricanes. The Tar Heels are hoping the Hurricanes are looking ahead to upcoming games against V Tech and Notre Dame in the coming weeks. Expect the Canes to pull away in the second half and a monster game from WR Ahmmon Richards.
Prediction Miami 38, North Carolina 20
Houston at #17 USF (3:45 PM ESPNU)
The Bulls return home and get their last Saturday home game as the Cougars and stud DT Ed Oliver come to visit. The Law Firm of Flowers, Tice and Johnson are expecting another huge game but might find the middle a little crowded with Oliver clogging lanes. The Bulls must put this team and not let them come back or hang around like Tulane last week to keep their record unblemished and keep the nation’s longest winning streak intact. Flowers should have a good passing game as the Cougars are susceptible in the air.
Prediction USF 38, Houston 27
Austin Peay at #20 UCF (5:00 PM ESPN3)
This won’t be much of a game as the Knights host overmatched Austin Peay in a get the backups some playing time game. The starters will be out by halftime as the Knights keep cruising through their schedule and will give the home fans a big win in Orlando.
Prediction UCF 61, Austin Peay 10
Florida vs #3 Georgia – Played in Jacksonville (3:30 PM CBS)
Up next for the struggling Gators is the (7-0) #3 Georgia Bulldogs in the world’s biggest outdoor cocktail party. The Dawgs are simply load with QB Jake Fromm and a 2 headed monster at RB in Nick Chubb and Sony Michael who have combined for nearly 1,200 yards and 14 TD’s. Florida head Coach Jim McElwain is starting to get on the hot seat and will begin the hear his name in rumors with each loss this season. He actually came out this week and mentioned that some psychotic fans have issued death threats to him, which is truly absurd.
Prediction Georgia 34, Florida 16
Florida State at Boston College (8:00 PM ESPN on Friday 10/27)
he Seminoles get another test on the road as they visit Chestnut Hill and face an improving BC team. Once again the Noles will need to rely on their star studded defense and running game to take the pressure off freshman QB James Blackman. Look for the Noles to squeak out a close win on the road with the help of some timely turnovers.
Prediction FSU 24, Boston College 20
-The LSU Tigers have a bye week.
*All games Saturday 10/28 unless otherwise noted.
“Da Guru’s” record for last week Week 8 picks 5-1, on the season 33-13.
