“Da Guru’s” Week 8 College Football Predictions…

Story by Yousaf Khan
Game of the Week
#19 Michigan at #2 Penn State (7:30 PM ABC)
Time for everyone to check out your next Heisman winner in dynamic Penn State RB Saquon Barkley as PSU hosts the Wolverines in prime time Saturday night. Barkley leads the Lions in rushing (649 yards and 6 td’s) and receiving (395 yards receiving and 2 td’s) for the year and now gets to face a stingy defense in Michigan. The Wolverines will have issues on offense as Penn state is only allowing 9 points a game on defense and UM has already been struggling to score points as their main issue is consistency at QB. I think Barkley will have a few signature plays to put the game out reach for a struggling UM offense to catch up.
Prediction Penn State 27, Michigan 13

State Games and LSU
Syracuse at #8 Miami (3:30 PM ESPN)
The “Cardiac Canes” pulled off another last minute win with come from behind win against Georgia Tech 25-24. Next up is a Syracuse team that is fresh off beating #2 Clemson 27-24 and has some momentum coming into the game. The Orange are led by dual threat QB Eric Dungey, who already has over 2,000 yards passing to with 12 touchdowns and another 386 yards on the ground with 8 rushing touchdowns. Dungey’s favorite target is WR Steve Ishmael who has 62 receptions, 802 yards receiving and 4 td’s on the year. The Canes defense will have their work cut out for them and will need to get some turnovers and flash the turnover chain. On offense, I expect new starting RB Travis Homer to have another big game and QB Malik Rosier to have a few big passing plays to get the win.
Prediction Miami 31, Syracuse 23

#16 USF at Tulane (7:0 PM ESPN2)
USF goes on the road to the “Big Easy” to face Tulane in New Orleans in AAC showdown. Expect the law firm of Flowers, Johnson, and Tice to go off for another 300 yard combined rushing effort as the Bulls continue to cruise to another victory. One player to watch for Tulane is RB Dontrell Hilliard who has 607 yards and 8 td’s rushing for the year and 26 td’s rushing in his career.
Prediction USF 41, Tulane 17

#20 UCF at Navy (3:30 PM CBSSN)
Expect a high scoring affair when #20 UCF goes on the road to face a good Navy team. The midshipmen run the triple option and are averaging close to 400 yards rushing a game and 35 points. Navy is led by QB Zach Abey, already over a 100 yards rushing and 12 td’s on the ground, and a plethora of RB’s to run the option. Good thing UCF is averaging 50 points a game and 547 total yards on offense for the year. QB McKenzie Milton has been on fire over the last 2 weeks with close to 700 yards passing 7 td’s on the air, over an 80 % completion percentage, 0 picks and 1 rushing touchdown to boot. Expecting the Knights to get another “W” on the road and remain unbeaten.
Prediction UCF 42, Navy 30

Louisville at Florida State (12:00 PM ESPN)
This was supposed to be a huge game back in August but both teams are having down season with 3 losses each at the midpoint. FSU will have revenge on their mind after getting blown out in Louisville last year and face a dismal defense in the Cardinals that should help their young offense. Louisville does still possess a premier talent in QB Lamar Jackson and he should keep them in the game, even against a stingy FSU defense. This game could really go either way and even though I am picking FSU to win close, wouldn’t be surprised if the Cardinals pulled it off on the road.
Prediction FSU 30, Louisville 27

#24 LSU at Ole Miss (7:15 PM ESPN)
The LSU Tigers have been a frustrating team to predict on as they lose games they are expected to win (Miss State and Troy) and then win games they are supposed to lose (at #21 Florida and #10 Auburn). So I finally figured out that I should probably pick the opposite of what I think will happen, but should I really pick LSU to lose to a 3-3 Ole Miss team? Alas, I can’t go against the Tigers in what should be a win but the Tigers are hardly predictable.
Prediction LSU 30, Ole Miss 20

-The Florida Gators have a bye week and next face the Georgia Bulldogs on 10/28.
*All games Saturday 10/21 unless otherwise noted.
“Da Guru’s” record for last week Week 7 4-2, on the season 28-12.
