“Da Guru’s” Week 6 College Football Predictions…

Story by Yousaf Khan

Rivalry Game
#14 Miami at FSU (3:30 PM ESPN)

The Hurricanes are looking for payback after a 7 game losing streak and have their eyes on the struggling Seminoles. The Hurricanes come in at 3-0 and off an impressive 31-6 win at previously unbeaten Duke. The Seminoles come in at 1-2, coming from behind to beat Wake Forest on the road. The Seminoles young offense is led by True freshman QB James Blackmon, who has struggled to get yards and points in his 2 starts and now must face a very talented Hurricanes defense. On offense the Hurricanes are led by experienced QB Malik Rosier who has been very comfortable in the starting positions throwing for 8 TD’s and running for 2 more TD’s.

The 2 best players on the Hurricanes offense have a bit of injury concerns in RB Mark Walton and WR Ahmmon Richards. Walton is averaging 9 yards a carry and running like a man possessed but has had ankle issues the past few weeks that has taken him out of games. Richards came back last week for his first action this year, after struggling with a hamstring issue, and went over 100 yards and touchdown. I Expect the Hurricanes to win in this one even though it is on the road against a very talented Seminole defense. I just don’t see the Seminole offense putting enough points up to win this game, but then again anything can happen in a rivalry game.
Prediction Miami 30, FSU 17

Rivalry Game #2
LSU at #21 Florida (3:30 PM CBS)

Talk about two teams going in the opposite directions. Florida is coming off the most impressive win of the year and LSU just lost to heavy underdog Troy at home. The Gators need this win to keep up with Georgia, who has been the class of the SEC East so far. The Gator QB competition looks it is down to Felipe Franks as Luke Del Toro was injured last game and Malik Zaire has looked lost. Whoever the QB is, they need to hand it Tampa native Malik Davis as he is averaging 7.4 yards a carry.

LSU once again has issues at quarterback that is now costing games against far inferior teams. Derrius Guice has had the injury bug the last few weeks and the Tigers need some semblance of a running to help out their struggling passing game. Look for the Gators to continue their winning streak with the running of Davis and the defense playing good against a struggling offense
Prediction Florida 27, LSU 16

National Game of the Week
#17 Louisville at #24 NC State (8:00 PM on ESPN on Thursday 10/5)

Another strong matchup in the ACC as the Lamar Jackson led Cardinals take on the defensive minded Wolfpack. The Cardinals could use a statement win to launch them back on the national scene and Jackson back in the Heisman race. I expect another vintage Jackson game to carry them to a win.
Prediction Louisville 34, NC State 24

National Game of the Week (Part II)
#1 Alabama at Texas A&M (7:15 PM on ESPN)

First the good news, the Aggies have bounced back to 4 straight wins after losing the opener to UCLA and have an upcoming home game. The bad news, the visiting team will be #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama has literally rolled tide over opponents this season and might be one of the most impressive teams in years. In the last 2 games, against SEC opponents, the Tide have outscored Vanderbilt and Ole Miss 125-3. While I don’t expect such a big blowout this week, the Crimson Tide should roll easily again this week with that strong running game averaging over 300 yards a game and a great defense gameplan.
Prediction: Alabama 45, Texas A&M 19

#25 UCF at Cincinnati (8:00 PM ESPNU)

UCF is fresh off an impressive win over Memphis and their first top 25 ranking since the Blake Bortles led Fiesta bowl team. Between classes was at the game so make sure to catch articles and pictures from the game at www.betweenclasses.org Next up for the Knights are the Cincinnati Bearcats team that has already lost 3 games this season. One playmaker to watch on the Knights is diminutive and speedy RB Adrian Killins Jr. who stands at 5-8 and 152 lbs but busted out for a 96 yard td run last Saturday. The Knights should take care of business and win this conference game on the road.
Prediction UCF 38, Cincinnati 16

#18USF (5-0) is off for the week.
*All games Saturday 10/7 unless otherwise noted.
“Da Guru’s” record for last week 6-1, on the season 21-8.
