The University of South Florida Bulls are back in the Birmingham Bowl after last years 46-39 win over SEC’s South Carolina Gamecocks. This year they were able to escape Big 12’s Texas Tech Red Raiders with about 17 seconds left on clock. USF and Texas Tech were tied 10 all at the half. The Bulls started the 2nd half with the ball but on the 1st drive fumbled the ball which gave great field position to the Red Raiders. 6 plays later they were up 17-10 after Nic Shimonek connected with Dylan Cantrell. The next drive the Bulls marched 91 yards on 9 plays and capped the drive with a 17 yard TD from Quinton Flowers to
Darnell Salomon. This drive was preserved but 3 key plays. A fumble recovery by Marcus Norman, a 26 yard catch by Marquez Valdes-Scantling and a pass interference trying to stop Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Score tied 17-17. USF was trying to get an edge but fumbles were killing them. Their next fumble was capped by a 4 yard touchdown run by Tre King. Texas Tech 24-17. The 4th quarter was all USF. The Bulls scored 21 points to get the win. The Red Raiders must have skipped the part where USF knows how to score quick. The last 2 touchdowns combined for 9 plays, 140 yards, and TOP 1:43. “Impressive”
With the win USF is now 21-4 over the last 2 season, 2-0 at the Birmingham Bowl and one of the most outstanding teams to watch in the American Athletic Conference. We want to to thank the team and look forward to 2018 Season!! Go Bulls
Quinton Flowers finished with so many accolades it will take another articles so we will try to get an interview with him.
