The 14th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-3) will play the 17th ranked LSU Tigers (9-3) on New Year’s Day in Orlando at Camping World Stadium at 1PM. The winner will get the coveted 10th win to ride some momentum into the offseason and could help in recruiting trail as well.
Few would have thought the Tigers would be in this position after starting the season 3-2 and an embarrassing loss to Troy. However, Coach O and the Tigers have responded nicely winning their last 6 of 7 games, with the only loss being to playoff team Alabama. LSU will test the Irish defense with playmakers like RB Derrius Guice (1,153 yards rushing, 11 TD’s, and the returning Citrus Bowl MVP) and big play WR D.J. Clark (811 yards receiving, a 23.2 avg per catch, and 3 TD’s).
The Irish come in having lost their last 2 of 3 games, after being the #3 team in the playoff rankings. They are led by RB Josh Adams (1,386 rushing yards and 9 TD’s) and dual threat QB Brandon Wimbush (16 TD pass and 14 TD runs).
Coach O of LSU on the game, “This will be a tremendous challenge … It’s going to be a big, physical football game.”
