The USF Bulls survive the roaring Savannah State Tigers comeback

The University of South Florida Basketball team coming off a lost to the number 1 team in the Kentucky Wildcats 84-63  had to survive the roaring Savannah State Tigers comeback.

DSC_0076The Tigers took an early 6 – 4 lead off a 4 point play by Christopher Martin. The

Bulls started a 8-0 run before Troyce Manassa hit a three to help slow them

down. USF maintained a 5 to 7 point lead throughout the half using strong defense and living in the paint.


Jaleel Cousins stated , “They were so short we just called plays to get the ball in so we can dunk or DSC_0025lay it in.” Lenjo Kilo and Novian Cherry combined for 9 points off the  bench to keep Savannah State in the game. Orlando Antigua’s team was only up 26-22 at the half. Orlando Antigua stated, ” I am pleased out how we took care of the ball and shared it.”


The Bulls pulled out to an early 35-25 lead to start the second half. USF scored 26 points using their height to dominate in the paint.

DSC_0045Savannah State was able to stay in the game by shooting 5-11 from 3 point land. With 1:47 left in the game Troyce Manassa  who lead all

scorers with 23 points hits the easy lay up to get the score to 60-57.  The Bulls scored another 7 points to end the game up 67-57.

“This game was about energy , focus and effort in the first half and we competed in the second half,”
