LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University wide receiver Michael Wheary was selected as The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office this afternoon.
The junior from Lakeland caught a school record 10 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to NAIA No. 10 Faulkner on Saturday. His receiving yardage total is a new Sun Conference record. On the second play of the third quarter, Wheary caught an 81-yard touchdown pass from Railond Garrett for a new school and Victory Field record for the longest pass completion.
The Fire (1-1) are back in action on Saturday against Warner at Lakeland Christian School for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
