Storm lose in a close game 44-40 in Arena Bowl Championship

Story by Yousaf Khan
Just as it has happened all season the Tampa Bay Storm could not beat the Philadelphia Soul in Arena Bowl XXX. The game was down to the wire as the Soul prevailed with a 44-40 win in front of their home fans at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Storm lost all three matches to the Soul in the regular season in route to Philadelphia dominating the league with a 13-1 regular season record. It looked like the Storm might get the upset as they took a 20-7 lead in the first half when cornerback Alvin Ray Jackson got a 26 yard pick six. However, the Soul took over in the second half and withstood a late Tampa Bay rally to hang on for the win. Arena league MVP, Storm QB Randy Hippeard did not have his best game as he threw 2 picks and only managed 4 tds with 194 yards.
The Storm can hopefully rebound and build upon this for next season as the enjoyed a 10-4 regular season and won their opening round playoff game. The Storm enjoyed many awards as Coach Ron James was named AFL Coach of the year and WR Joe Hills was wide receiver of the year joining along with Hippeard who won MVP and QB of the year.
