Story by George Vinson
The Florida State Seminoles are set to meet the Roll Tide from Alabama on September 2nd at the newly constructed Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Florida State has won the last 7 games they have played in which includes their Orange Bowl win. Fresh off a National Championship loss to Clemson, Alabama is looking to retain its spot as a yearly playoff contender. This should be an epic matchup as Alabama’s top rated offense is squaring off against an improved Florida State defense.
On both sides of the field both teams have sophomore QB’s looking to make Heisman runs this year. FSU QB Francois stated “I feel like I’ve gotten better this spring, but there are always things that I can improve on.” This will be a very interesting matchup as Alabama’s Jalen Hurts has playoff experience under his belt. On the defensive side Derwin James who is touted as the #1 player in the country leads the Seminoles against Hurt’s Roll Tide. Alabama is once again returning a top rated defense against the Noles. The real matchup will be future Hall of Fame coach Nick Saban against his former OC Jimbo Fisher who made the Seminoles National Champs in 2013. When asked about the matchup Saban stated “I don’t think we’re an elite team right now. I think we’re an adequate team. … We’re going to play an elite team in the first game..”
