The #6 ranked Louisiana State University Tigers will host #8 Florida Gators October 17th, 7PM at Tiger Stadium. It is no secret to what LSU will do when they have the ball. Leonard Fournette right , left and down the middle.
Why would you do any thing else when he is averaging 8 yards a carry? Leonard Fournette is the quickest player to 1,000 yards in SEC history. They also have RB Derrius Guice who is the SEC Freshman of the Week after posting 160 yards on 16 carries. Florida’s defense will need to bring the wood on every play if they want to have a chance to slow down this Tigers running attack.
Les Miles stated, “They have a very, very strong defense, a lot of guys that make a lot of plays, coming off a Missouri win, 23-3, and have allowed Ole Miss only 10 points, Kentucky 9 points. They’re second in the conference in rush defense at 99. They’re second in scoring, allowing 14 points per game. They’re fourth in total defense at 296 yards per game.”
The Gators will need Fred Taylor’s son Kelvin to run like his pedigree to get the ground game going. The plan of Will Grier spreading the ball to many receivers will be hampered by the suspension. Jim McElwain stated, “We’ll be a guy down at the quarterback position and yet what that means is we might have to dust some things off that we’ve seen with some other guys and we put a plan together and go play it together as Gators. It should be a lot of fun guys.”
Someone has to lose but, this game could be a preview of the teams in the SEC Championship provided they win out after this game.
Being from Florida we will be bias and go with the Gators because “Its Great To Be A Florida Gator…”
