The University of Miami Football team started the new early recruiting period with a bang as they signed 19 of their 20 commits to letters of intent. The class was ranked #4 by Between Classes (The Guru), #1 by Between Classes (Stan Da Man), #5 by rivals, #6 by scout (247sports.com) and #4 by ESPN and had head coach Mark Richt giddy about the new signing period. The Hurricanes will look to add a few more players, maybe 7-10, once the traditional signing day comes rolling around on the first Wednesday of February.
The current class is headlined by a couple of skill players in 5 star running back Lorenzo Lingard out of Orange City, FL and 5 star wide receiver Mark Pope out of Miami per Rivals. The class has plenty of depth as well as 13 other players were ranked at least 4 star recruits by Rivals, including dual threat qb Jarren Williams out of Lawrenceville, GA. ESPN had 13 Hurricane recruits in their Top 300 list, including the number 1 TE prospect in Brevin Jordan.
Coming off a 10 win season, their first ACC championship appearance, a major bowl showdown vs Wisconsin, the Turnover Chain, and now a stellar recruiting class have the Canes rolling to become a major power in college football once again.
