Story by  Louis Maxwell Jr

Expectation for this season will be very high for the Louisville Cardinals with New Offensive/Defensive Coordinator and Reigning Hesiman winner Lamar Jackson. Mike Summers new offensive line coach will be working with him for the 5th time. He has always  been a great teacher and players love working with him. Coach Petrino is excited to have him back on staff for the upcoming season. The offensive will have Reggie Bonnafon in the backfield full time this season which will provide extra pass protection for Lamar. Lamar Jackson states “I want to start out with Reggie Bonnafon, No.7 He plays all types of positions: Running back, quarterback, receiver. He’s just a freakish athlete and he does a tremendous job with being coached, getting into position, trying to be the best at it. Jaylen Smith, wideout, No. 9, another tremendous guy coming back for me. Can’t wait to see him out there. Its a lot of receivers who have— I can’t name them all, but you’re going to have to see for yourself.” Malik Williams and Jeremy Smith are both coming off injuries. There present will add an extra dynamic to the team this  season. Lamar Jackson has been working underneath the center to help the team become more than just a running team. He’s been working through his progression reads, deep ball, and instilling a positive work ethic to the team.

Defensive Coordinator Peter Sirmon has experience at the NFL and College level. Coach Petrino stated,But you know, he’s just done a good job wherever he’s been. I also coached against him when he was at Tennessee, and he’s just a great teacher, a great motivator. He’s been in the player’s shoes. He’s gone through what they have to do in recruiting. He went through what you have to do in the grind and how you get your body to play and then how you go out and perform. I’m really excited that he’s on our staff.”

Louisville  is expected to use the FTS approach which is Feed The Studs. So you know that this season will be big for Lamar Jackson and his receiving corp, along with the defense which will be lead by Jaire Alexander. Jaire did not get offered scholarship in his home town tri state area but was an Ap Allstate player 2 years in Charlotte. Jaire Alexander states “You know, also not having the scholarship offers from the Triangle colleges also motivated me to do better and go harder.  Be excited for the upcoming season for the Louisville Cardinals.
