MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The 8th ranked Kansas Jay hawks traveled to face the 23rd ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. Once again Kansas was down early and made a roaring comeback but , fell short 62-61 on a Perry Ellis missed layup.
The Jay hawks were down 0-8 before a much needed timeout was called. The Mountaineers’s defense was amazing and at time I had to make sure there was only 5 defenders on the court. Kansas tried everything to get in rhythm but was still down 8-19 before calling their second timeout. This time it worked and the offense by Oubre Jr., Traylor, Lucas, Ellis and Selden Jr cut the lead to 24-26. West Virginia watched their lead fade away and were only up 33-30 at the half.
West Virginia started the second half slow and were down by as much as six points before tying the score 49-49. Both teams traded scores until the end. With .04 left on the clock Juwan Staten put what seem like the dagger in. “Make a play and celebrate!” stated Juwan Staten and that is what they did. They may have celebrated to hard because some how the ball was in Perry Ellis in the paint. He missed the shot? He missed the shot!
