STATESBORO, Ga. — Georgia Southern Eagles showed an outstanding football program this past Thursday against Troy University Trojans. The Trojans defense discovered just how well the Eagles run the ball. Nine Eagles touched the ball, racking up a combined total of 421 yards and six touchdowns. Kevin Ellison started the scoring by following his blockers 63 yards for an easy seven points. His second touchdown of the day came off a play action passed that the defense covered well but he was able to find some open space and walked in untouched. In the second quarter the Trojans cut the lead when Ryan Kay hit a 25 yard field goal. Troy was not in position to stop the unbalance line that lead to a four yard touchdown by Alfred Ramsby. The Score at halftime was 21-3.
The Eagles 1st driver of the second half went 84 yards and was capped off by Kevin Ellison third touchdown of the day.
Going into the fourth quarter the Eagles were up 28-3. They were looking for their 6 Sunbelt win; however, they were not done. Alfred added his second touchdown to the list while Favian Upshaw made it look easy going 19 yards on the option to get his second score of the year. Final score was 42-10.
Georgia Southern only 2 loses came from Georgia Tech 42-38 and NC State 24-23. Dont be surprised if you see them move to the AAC or Conference USA
