FIU and Temple are playing in Gasparilla bowl

The newly named Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl game, held at Tropicana Field, will be played on December 21st at 8pm. This year we have the 6-6 Temple Owls vs the 8-4 Florida International Panthers. Both teams have new coaches that would love to get this win under their belt. Geoff Collins took over the job after Matt Rhule last 2 seasons in the AAC championship helped him land the Baylor job. Butch Davis took over after Ron Turner failed to get the program turned around.

The Owl’s have been in a bowl game the last two year but have yet to get a win. This team is extremely balanced on offense. At the quarterback position we have Logan Marchi (1658 yards, 9 touchdowns) and Frank Nutile (1346 yards, 11 touchdowns) so if Marchi plays good luck getting a break on defense. At the running back position we have bruisers Ryquell Armstead (553 yards, 4 touchdowns) and David Hood (562 yards , 4 touchdowns) to keep the Panthers honest on defense.

The Panthers on the other hand know the offices of Alex and Alex will be their best chance of winning this game. Quarterback Alex McGough will be using his arm and legs (2791 yards, 17 passing touchdowns, 5 rushing touchdowns) to get the job done. Then there is Alex Gardner the workhorse holding FIU career rushing yards (2272 yards) , career receptions by a running back (98) and career 100 yards game (9). He is not having the spectacular year like 2015 but if you think there is no gas in the tank make sure you get your ticket and find out.
