“Da Guru’s” Week 2 College Football Predictions…

Story by Yousaf Khan

Game of the Week:

#5 Oklahoma at #2 Ohio State (7:30 PM on ABC)

Week 2 provides another big time out of conference match between 2 top 5 teams as #5 Oklahoma visits the Horseshoe and #2 Ohio State. Both teams have talent everywhere on the field, especially at quarterback. Two-time Heisman finalist Baker Mayfield of the Sooners had an incredible state line vs UTEP last, 19-20 329 yards 3 tds, that’s right 1 incompletion or 95% completion percentage. Not that the Buckeyes QB J.T. Barrett is a slouch either, he only has 104 career total tds to his credit (although Mayfield slightly edges him out with 107.) I see Ohio State winning a close game in a shootout due their experience in head coach Urban Meyer and being at home.

Prediction: Ohio State 38, Oklahoma 31

Game of the Week (Part 2)

#13 Auburn at #3 Clemson (7:00 PM ESPN)

The defending champs get their first real test of the season in Auburn in a game featuring a lot of Tigers. New starting QB for Auburn, Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham, didn’t look overly impressive in his first start vs Georgia Southern which bodes well for strong Clemson defense. The Clemson offense has enough players to get some scores and should win this game in what could be a low scoring game between 2 great defenses.

Prediction: Clemson 27, Auburn 17

Other State Games,

#16 UM at Arkansan State – Cancelled

The game has been cancelled due to impending Hurricane Irma. Everyone stay safe in Florida and anywhere where this devastating real life hurricane hits.

#21 USF at Connecticut (12:00 PM on ESPNN) – Update Game Cancelled due to Hurricane Irma

The Bulls are 2-0 this season but have yet to put a complete 4 quarter game together vs much lesser opponents. Up next is conference foe UConn Huskies on the road to provide a real gauge where the Bulls stand under new coach Charlie Strong. This season the USF defense has done its part and is playing much better compared to last year. The offense has been inconsistent and has only shown glimpses of last year’s record setting pace. Hopefully QB Quinton Flowers puts his best game to date and the Bulls should win on the road.

Prediction USF 30, Connecticut 17

Memphis at UCF (6:30 PM on Friday 9/7/17) – Update Game Cancelled due to Hurricane Irma

This game has been moved up a day but possibly could be cancelled as well due to the Hurricane Irma. Between classes sports is scheduled to cover the game and the “Da Guru” will be on hand taking pics and getting you all access for the Knights. The Knights had big win in week 1 vs FIU and QB McKenzie Milton had a great game throwing for 360 yards, going 16-21, and 4 tds. Predicting the Knights to win in week 2 as well.

Prediction UCF 35, Memphis 31

Louisiana Monroe at #10 FSU (12:00 PM on ACCN) – Update Game Cancelled due to Hurricane Irma

FSU gets the perfect rebound game after losing to Alabama and starting QB Deondre Francois for the year with an injury. New true freshman QB James Blackmon will get his first start in his career but should not have any problems against the undermanned Warhawks.

Prediction FSU 52, Louisiana Monroe 13

Northern Colorado vs #22 Florida (12:00 PM on SECN+) – Update Game Cancelled due to Hurricane Irma

The Gators also get a great rebound game after getting beat last week vs Michigan and should have some suspended players back in the fold. The Gators should romp in this one.

Prediction Florida 48, Northern Colorado 10

Chattanooga at #12 LSU (7:30 PM SECN)

This game will be a tune-up for the Tigers and the reserves should get some work in the one. Expect the “Guice” to get another 100 yards and 2 tds on the ground.

Prediction LSU 52, Chattanooga 10

*All games Saturday 9/9 unless otherwise noted.

“Da Guru’s” record for last week 7-0, on the season 8-0.
