When it comes to basketball the ACC is consistently among the elite conferences and the 2015-2016 season isn’t any different. The ACC currently has 5 teams ranked in the top 20 and outside of Louisville, who self-imposed a tournament ban this season, three of the four teams(N. Carolina, Virginia, Miami) have a great chance to win it all.
Before the NCAA tournament begins the ACC will have their annual slugfest to see who comes out as the champion of the conference. The safe bet will be on either the North Carolina Tar Heels or the Virginia Cavaliers to take home the conference championship hardware but one thing that I known from watching ACC basketball is that any team can win on any given day. The one team that I’m confident about ruling out as a threat is Boston College; they did not win a single conference game this season.
Earlier in the season many fans and analyst were questioning if Roy Williams was still the coach that he once was. Up until this point his team has only last 6 games which is a testament to how great of a coach he is. Virginia is a team that has been on the bubble and really been primed to go all the way for a few seasons now but they have fallen short. This could definitely be their season as they have been one of the best teams in college basketball. Miami also has a strong chance to take home the conference hardware with a senior laden team which usually bodes well for a deep run in conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament.
I don’t know who will win it all but I can predict that it’ll be a very entertaining tournament. The ACC has some heavy hitter this year, some strong mid-level teams, and even some teams on the lower end that are super talented. Sometimes it’s all about who’s the healthiest and who gets hot at the right time. Rest assured that the ACC tournament will be extremely entertaining. Basketball fans all over will be tuned in because they know just how important this tournament is to the national college basketball scene.
